Wikipedia.org has a website layout with incredibly strong continuity. It's one of the last few mainstream resources that doesn't have any extreme code dressing in its layout, but it's also not minimalistic to a fault. Too many websites nowadays feel the need to incorporate as much "white space" as possible on any given monitor but not Wikipedia. Wikipedia is filled wall-to-wall with carefully-organized text, and in the context of an encyclopedia, that's only appropriate.
With that said, this approach to design is not without limitations.
- Images often have low supplemental quality
 - It doesn't scale images very well for mobile devices
 - Navigation can often look cluttered
 - Sections are often too long to read comfortably
